The first round of Space Marine rumors are doing the rounds. Come see what the Astartes are bringing!
via RR on 5-2-2015
“June 13th sees new Adeptus Astartes Codex release with two vehicle boxes. New land raider command variant included and new rhino command variant. Ornate design on additional armour plates etc. More marine kits to follow.
The codex sees predators/whirlwinds/indicators as 1-3 options. No surprise.
The codex sees land raider squadrons and huge bonus to ignoring damage when part of them.”
After codex Craftworld, seeing the older Marine vehicle vehicles move to squadrons is not surprise. Forge World has been making command variants of the Land Raider and the Rhino for years now (see below)
With a rumored release date of June 13, this would appear to fit right in front of the rumored WFB 9th Edition reboot.
GW sure seems intend on jam-packing as much high interest 40K items as they humanly can in their end of year Q4 right before the WFB re-launch.
~Thoughts?

Good Tournament (But I Lost)
Avistew and I went to our local hobby store to play in a Warhammer 40,000 tournament on Sunday. We both got our asses handed to us.
This is the second tournament I’ve gone to with a fluffy Salamander list. I hope the new codex will fix me up.

Salamanders Complete! #thedailypaint
Finished up the Salamanders just in time to pre order this:
Really looking forward to the 6th Edition C:SM update!
I added the etched brass metal bits from Forge World to all of the Salamander units.
I also got all the guys based in cork with added vegetation.
Got the Razorbacks painted up to go with my other vehicles.
Shoulder pads and shoulder pads and shoulder pads…
Shiny!
Took a break to put together a Stormraven Gunship. An easy 230pts to add to the army come Apocalypse time.
Packing up for the tourney tomorrow.
Avistew finished up the drop pod fire for me and I added lots of brass bits.

Shorty But Goody #thedailypaint
Salamander Army Update #thedailypaint
It’s another big update! Been working furiously throughout the weekend. Trying to get 1850 points or Salamander Space Marines table-quality ready for the tournament on the 1st of September.
First, I got the Razorbacks all primed up and the scale panels added and primed.
Secondly, I got the scales on thr Drop Pod painted on and added a couple of coats of Snot green to the ribs.
I wanted to show the progression from the Caliban Green to the 3 layers of Snot Green on some Marines.
Here are one squad of Sternguard from the 1st Company and three squads of Tactical Marines from 4th Company.
Getting some black back pack action going.
Lastly, Just waned to show off my Salamander Librarian. It started with a Lord Inquisitor with a power sword; it ended up A librarian with a force stave made from his force sword and the bits from a Necron Deathmark rifle.

Land Raider Update #thedailypaint
Got this done before getting to sleep last night. I think all that’s left are the muddy tracks and other dirt-slop up the sides of this beast.
Next comes the “ripped off side sponsors” debris that shows up when you remove weapons from the tank.

Large Update (picture heavy)
I’ve been working on my Salamanders like crazy lately. First off, I received my Salamander shoulder pads from Forge World yesterday and I added them to the Sternguard. That should be the last pieces for the Sternguard.
Second, I added some “flat rounded stone”-textured plasticard to the recesses on the Rhino/Razorback tank hulls. (I also received some Rhino front panels from Forge World but they are not pictured.)
Lastly, I started working on the much-neglected Land Raider. This guy has been sitting, half-painted for over a year. The initial thing I did what cut out some “flat rounded stone”-textured plasticard and add that to the the tank’s hull. I then added some better struts inside the weapon doors with additional magnets to hold the side sponsons on. After that I painted the “scales” and then added some highlights to the rest of the tank and crew. I rounded it all out with some Boltgun Metal drybrushed onto the weapons, engine, tatical gear and sunk in hull pieces.

Another (sad face) Missed Tournament
So I recently remembered that I’m going to PAX Prime and will be there the last/first weekend of Augtember. This means I’m going to miss another tournament at my local hobby store (first Sunday of every month).
This kinda irks me as I keep missing tournaments and on top of that I’m putting together my Salamander army for no real reason as I don’t know if the next tournament will be a large point number game again. The sisters of Battle hold their own when it’s a small points game with enough Acts of Faith to pass around but larger games require more than just luck on a single dice roll (twin linked Acts of Faith with Uriah).
So I, again, didn’t get much done this weekend on my Salamanders. I got some Sternguard underway as well as added some scales to my Land Raider and drop pod. I think the scales came out really good. Now I just gotta wait for the bitz i’ve ordered to arrive to continue work on the Sternguard. I the mean time, I’ll be working on another squad of Tactical Marines and painting up some tanks.

Getting a Late Start
Not as far along as I would have liked this evening. (My new job is really kicking my ass.)
Updates:
I am really excited about the new Space Marines. So Excited in fact that I picked up some more odds and ends from Forge World this morning.

Space Marines Making a Comeback!
I started working on my Salamanders again and then I hear that the Space Marines are getting a 6th ed Codex update.
Games Workshop, I need you to listen to me carefully.
Progress on new Salamander units:
I didn’t get very far on the first unit tonight but my goal is to have them assembled and painted to table top quality by the end of the weekend. Wish me luck.
On a final note, I started a new job and on my second day a coworker dropped this on my desk:
Does anyone know where it comes from or what game system it’s part of?
