Salamander Army Update #thedailypaint

It’s another big update! Been working furiously throughout the weekend. Trying to get 1850 points or Salamander Space Marines table-quality ready for the tournament on the 1st of September.

First, I got the Razorbacks all primed up and the scale panels added and primed.

I wanted to show the progression from the Caliban Green to the 3 layers of Snot Green on some Marines.

Lastly, Just waned to show off my Salamander Librarian. It started with a Lord Inquisitor with a power sword; it ended up A librarian with a force stave made from his force sword and the bits from a Necron Deathmark rifle.

Two Day Tournament and Thoughts for a New Unit

Here I am in my first match against Michael getting my derriere given to me on a platter. It was a was either a major victory or a massacre, I truly can’t remember but I learned a lot and got an idea from his army (more on that later).

Tournament Day(s)

Here we are on day two. You can see my half painted army in the bottom left.

Day Two

At the end of the tournament, I had 1 loss, 1 draw, and 2 wins. Very fun and very informative. Thanks again, Will, and everyone over there at HobbyTown. It was great seeing everyone and getting to test out my new list.

So playing in my first game I came up against a player with lots of Daemon Spawn. Freaking toughness 6 spawn. I had never gone up against such things and the way they were modeled (Fantasy dryads ripping out of the backs of Ogryns) was plainly just ridiculous (in a good way).

So I think I’m gonna try my hand at a little conversion and kit-bashing again. The idea behind my Sister of Battle with IG allies army is that they are all females (event Jacobus has been converted) so I just picked up a box of Warhammer Fantasy Orges and, that’s right, I’m gonna put gas masks and boobs on them. On top on that, I’m gonna try to put some Ork weapons on the fantasy models as the guns the Orks use are essentially stolen anyways; this will be a bit of Ogryn payback.

I mean… They already have moobs, how far of a stretch is this gonna be?

Orges

I may have spoke too soon…

More Tanks #thedailypaint and New Sisters of Battle (Greenstuff Robes)

Just sitting here watching Last Resort on Hulu and painting on my Sisters of Battle tanks.

My trifecta of edge highlighting colors include (All from the new Citadel line of paints):
Altdorf Guard Blue
Temple Guard Blue
White Scar

I also painted the iconography bits on the front and sides with Tin Bitz and all the trim on the tanks are in a few thin but opaque coats of Mephicton Red.

My previous project (New Sister of Battle figures) is on hold for a bit as I’m missing some bits. I have my heads on order from Hasslefree Miniatures.

The biggest gripe about the new minis is the greenstuff robes. Here’s a couple of pics to show the robs I put together for the minis.

Bear in mind that the back of the torso is still very much Dark Eldar but when I glue on a back pack all will come together.

What I rally need to find are just a boat load (60 or so) of the female Dark Eldar Kabalite Warrior torsos (there are only 3 per box of 10) and the same goes for their legs. On top of that, there are only two Daemonette corsets that fit the SoB and lack the Slaaneshi iconography in a box of ten Daemonettes.

All told, the cost per mini sits at: ~$50
That doesn’t include about 1-2 hours of labor assembling each.

Itemized list:
Two boxes (Kabalite Warriors and Daemonettes): $30 each ($60)
Backpacks from the metal SoB troops: $17 for 3 ($5.75)
The heads from Hasslefree Miniatures: £4.00 + S&H ($12)
Bolters from Forgeworld: £11.00 + S&H for 10 ($3 each)
Greenstuff (when not buying in bulk) per robe/tabbard: $0.12
New bag of Styrene Plastic: $8

Custom Sister of Battle

Taking the pseudo plans left on the Dakka Dakka forums, I decided to try my hand at making some custom Sisters of battle.

So far I’ve shaped up the Dark Eldar Kabalite Warrior legs to be pretty subdued and normal looking but I left the ridges on the upper thighs instead of using the Daemonette thighs. Adding the VERY small strips of sheet styrene is proving to be incredibly difficult.
